Hello from Australia + request for advice

When I decided to sell my holiday home in Florida and retreat to my base in the UK I used these people and this agent. They were very consientious and the furiture arrived in the UK with no damage, no doubt they would be the same with your goods. Good luck with your shipping. Regards B

    Taking it up a step---

It seems that I am not alone in using my digital caliper to establish a dimension to within 5 thou and then homing in using a micrometer. When I need to turn a shaft to a standard dimension I use a gauge to set the caliper and the zero the scale I can then see easily how much metal to remove...

Summer Garden battles about to begin

That's my attitude too Lloyd just so long as it doesn't interfere with my workshop time.

BA TAP AND DIE SET USED ON STUART STEAM ENGINES

Looks like you solved your problem Scotty, I was going to suggest that you bought a Stuart Engine kit and became a model engineer along with many more of us. A great way to while away those cold Nebraska winter days! Incidentally, I spent 3 years around Omaha when I was stationed at Offutt AFB...

    Hello from North Devon

Welcome and good luck Gary. I used a Raglan Little John in metalwork lessons at school 60 years ago, great lathe with an expanding/contracting pulley system to infinitely vary the speed if I remember rightly. B

    Lead screw nut

I made an exact copy of a Myford nut in acetal for my Super Seven and fitted it in June 2013. I use my lathe most days and am pleased to say the backlash is less than 1 thou, which is far better than I have ever achieved with the genuine Myford monkey metal part. Luckily the Myford nut has a...

    Stuart 10v

These 10 V & H Stuart Engines can't be rushed, I received a set of castings from my parents for my 12th birthday (cost 12 shillings and 6 pence) and I finished it when I reached 64. It traveled with me to 3 continents and was on my New Years' resolution list every year. Stick with it guys it...

    Electric car plant

I am very split on this matter, I have had a hybrid car (Lexus RX450h) for the past 8 years, it is now 11 years old and still performs well. The last service indicated that the batteries are still achieving 98% charge retention. Last week I went shopping for a new car for my wife to replace...

    Hello guys.

That's a great thing to do Sutty, I would love to do the same. So far my 8-year-old Grandson is stuck on Lego and enjoys that which is a step n the right direction. We mustn't be sexist on this, one of my granddaughters seems keener than her brother. I am monitoring the situation. Regards B

    English Hobby Machinist Magazine

Great Magazine, I have subscribed for 20+ years, I tried the digital version but it isn't the same as a printed copy. Something comforting in a magazine. In the past, it was possible to buy the first 160 editions on disc from eBay, don't see it anymore perhaps copyright issues.

    Chinese Girl Machinist

When I was in the RAF it wasn't unusual to have female technicians and engineering officers on a unit. They were treated the same as the men and probably more enthusiastic than some of the guys. I believe there are more of them now. No probs as far as I was concerned. In the model engineering...
