For Sale Ritter dental drill - repaired "ready to use"

Not “pre-anesthetic,” it was just optional and came at an additional cost. In the days before dental insurance, everything you could do to keep expenses down so many people decided to skip for routine small cavities (filled with a Mercury amalgam). I have only been asked if I wanted local...

For Sale Ritter dental drill - repaired "ready to use"

Yes, exactly. We had a true family dentist; he worked on my Father's teeth for free when he (the dentist) was in training and we continued to see him until he finally retired when I was in High School. However, it was years before he used Novocaine on us – there was an extra charge and my...

For Sale Ritter dental drill - repaired "ready to use"

Damn that is old: looks like what my dentist used on us 60+ years ago.

Can you remove anodizing color from aluminum?

No where near an expert, but since anodizing is basically dying the Aluminum with the color adsorbed into the surface (or the oxide surface) removing it may not be possible. Maybe you can powder coat over the anodized surface?

    An "old" NEW member

I feel for you and can identify: I am (and always have been) Macintosh-based, so am used to intuitive software. My first CAD package was ClarisCAD from the days when Apple had a software company: it made sense, used all of the built-in tools the Mac included and was like an extension of my...

    What's Happening in Chazz's Shop?

Fix One Issue & Create a New One! Was very pleased with how the adapter turned out, and it fits on the rotary table much more securely. However, I created another problem opportunity: in reducing the unthreaded portion of the 3/4"-16 hole, I also reduced the width of the wrench flats. I knew...

An impromptu method of holding a thin part - water hatch flange for Bill Harris Steam Roller

Thanks for the confirmation, John. A very clever approach for a non-critical part: saved making a mandrel, and the part was already on/in the punch. Charlie

An impromptu method of holding a thin part - water hatch flange for Bill Harris Steam Roller

I agree – very nice work. Could you give some additional details on the setup? From the first photo, I understand holding the body of the punch in a collet (and then clamping the hex head in the milling vise to drill the bolt circle). Is the flange held in position because you didn't...

    Powder paint for model engines

The “Toast” setting typically keeps both sets of elements on 100% of the time so the only temperature control will be whatever the oven has as a safety feature that will shut it down until cooled. What you want to do is see what the regulated temperature is when you set it to 400F

    Powder paint for model engines

IIRC Quinn also had problems getting up to 400F; however, whatever temperature she was able to reach worked on the Eastwood powder she was doing.

    What's Happening in Chazz's Shop?

Finally Had a Project Where I Needed My 5" 3-Jaw! Most of what I have been doing lately has used the ER32 collet chuck, but while taking photos for an upcoming post about my Sherline RT & tooling, I realized that the threaded adapter – 1"-8 male to 3/4"-16 female – (3/4"-16 is the Sherline...

What have you been doing today?

24 tpi is pretty fine for a band saw blade, unless you’re cutting up to 1/8” material. I have Starrett & Milwaukee blades ready & waiting.

    Sieg Sx 2.3 Mill

Thanks, but no familiarity with that model: sounds like @Jasonb is your best resource.

What have you been doing today?

No pics of the process: finally decided to change the blade on my DeWalt PortaBand (still had the original blade from 2018! I don't use it a lot) as I saw some chipped teeth. Trying a Lennox Wolf-Band 10/14.

    Sieg Sx 2.3 Mill

Can you provide a photo? I have a SIEG Mini-Mill variant and may be able to help, but there is no listing for a SX2.3 on the SIEG website.

    Sandblaster!!!

Somewhere I have a mini sandblasting “air brush” set (I buy things, it’s an addiction). Since it’s mini, can use with a minimum of cabinet.

    What's Happening in Chazz's Shop?

Yes, on a couple of boxes I changed my approach to leave some empty space since I had extra boxes with the added Metric Stack. No Tupperware/Rubbermaid: the hardware boxes are Plano or from Bolt Depot and the boxes of stock & tooling are mostly Really Useful Boxes with some miscellaneous boxes...

What have you been doing today?

Yes, the labels on the boxes make narrowing a search down. However, I learned something after I did the initial organization (during the Shutdown) – in addition to a label on the front with the contents, I made "maps" of the contents of each box; a great concept, but things changed: This was a...
