Fed up with a flimsy bench grinder tool rest.

For hand clamping I use adjustable levers, either small ones like these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/362805186570?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=DCsEsXeSSta&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=ymb4Nv8lSGW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY or larger ones like these...

    Tangential tooling

Postage is why I bought the Diamond holders, bits, etc. at the same time as the Flexi-Vise (with spares as well): incremental postage was minimal. Village Press (The Home shop Machinist, Machinist’s Workshop & Live Steam) used to sell Diamond Tool Holders (they still sell the FoR Cutoff Holder...

    Hello from Pa

As I frequently annoy my wife by saying so, "I've been there." Did some initial planning work for a family-owned chocolate shop (can't remember the name) that had just opened an ice cream parlor; must have been 10+ years ago.

    Grizzly Hand Tapping Machine problem

Based on what's in the manual, the collets have a detent and need to be rotated in the spindle so they line up properly with the ball. There is a circular clip that holds the ball in place during use. See attached.

    What's Happening in Chazz's Shop?

Odds & Ends: A Little Chore and Some Issues First the chore: I'm getting things set up for a video and so that I don't need to worry about battery power I use a "Battery Replacement" with my Nikon D5100. However, I also have a power adapter for my little Panasonic HDC-TM41 video camera and...

My version of a Die Filer From Bar Stock

Thanks; I don't have AutoCAD so can't open directly; however, MacDarft will open DWG & DXF: As you can see, it opens but un-dimensioned it doesn't do much for me (and there are errors with the import). I can get DWG's converted to PDF's by the folks at my old job, but would prefer only to give...

Welcome from Pennsylvania! What are your interests? Where in Scotland? I visited 50+ years ago when I was in the U.S. Navy (Rosyth & Greenock, with ventures into Glasgow and Edinburgh), and somewhere in the South in the late 90's on a short visit to a textile mill (can't remember the location...

    Removal of bearings from shaft

Delrin® 100AF (20% Teflon fiber filled, brown color) would provide more lubricity than Tufnol and could have similar properties as Tufnol (and may cost less). I couldn't find an apples-to-apples comparison.

    Sandblaster!!!

I have a Dustopper in front of an 8 gallon ShopVac with 1-7/8" Ridgid® hoses (2-1/2" between the Vac & Dustopper). I use this combination with Loc-Line pickups at my Mini-Lathe & Mini-Mill, with a 2-1/2” adapter on my Craftsman 10” 3-Wheel Bandsaw and various nozzles to clean up after using all...

    Removal of bearings from shaft

Non-metallic gears are used in power transmission systems for a number of reasons including noise reduction, but also for cushioning impact and to act as a (relatively) low cost failure component rather than destroying the entire assembly & supporting castings/frame. Older gears for these...
