    Webster Build Questions and Progress

You should test fit your piston after the boring. If it slides and turns uniformly in the bore full stroke....leave it at that.

    Webster Build Questions and Progress

Have you considered the cylinder liner material that has no need for honing, lapping or boring? There for no tooling for these operations needed and just fit the piston to its bore?

    Webster Build Questions and Progress

The length of the cylinder is like two inches long. You are having an inordinate concern for a tapered bore here and your gauge readings seem to stall you out on the progress. Continue the build with whatever choice of material and get a hands on experience with the cutting properties and...

Single Cylinder Opposed 2 Piston Engine

Not only can you claim museum qualities in your builds but bringing an obscure design to life is an exception to standard I/C engines. Does the forum still have Model of the Month recognition? 🤔

    Webster Build Questions?

Your fixed costs are a one time deal for ignition support. Thats would be your coil and battery, battery holder, wireing / connector leads/ switching. The every model built part is the sparkplugs and coil trigger device. For a single cyl. engine that's about 20-25 bucks. I use an EMGO 71532...

Single Cylinder Opposed 2 Piston Engine

This is a big deal! A home effort on a design almost lost to the ages. These opposed twin piston cylinders are showing up again in contemporary talk and articles for automobile power by specific output, economy, weight and component part reduction. Haven't seen type as a model project...

    Straight 6 Cylinder Engine

Gonna have to add a board for the next 5 models here next year. So far.....I got 48 cylinders worth of I/C engines.

A real gem of modeling. I'm a fan of open cranks and valve trains and looks great in Chevy orange. Dave.

Thoughts on cooling a model engine with oil instead of water

Unlikely model engines see any kind of duty or dis use that corrosion concerns would be a primary reason in the choice of cooling mediums. Oils and Glycols beat out water on a maintenance basis and liquid cooling introduces a system in need of reservoirs, pumps and plumbing in your model.

Tecumseh points and condenser. You will find the rub block hugs around the points cam for a compact fit and the lead for the condenser is like 3 inchs long for remote mounting.

    Longboy's "TWIN REDEMPTION" Model Engine.

My spiral bevel gears showed up this week. A little larger, more teeth and better capacity for the duty. Looks like the last step for this twin to prove the engine and it is working that way. ..........the sun came out! 😊 The birds are chirping and I have another engine to enjoy...

    Longboy's "TWIN REDEMPTION" Model Engine.

Another weak point was in the frame that would flex on compression and ignition. To box in the overhang, the upper end plate on the flywheel side was extended to the ends of the 4x4 horizontal and attached with eight bolts to end the flexing. It helped somewhat........... .........but the...

Conversion pretty straight forward over three days. Going to overlay a 3/16in plate on the web side of the vertical. Center the new bearing carriers in the middle under the cylinders. Matching up each side. And black it out again. These are the original carriers shown with Oilite...
