    3D printing an engine frame?

Agreed! About 12 years ago I had a student license for SolidWorks and I was doing real well with it, but that was when I had a Windows computer at work to use. Powerful program, and as a veteran, I am still entitled to student rates with that program. However, I’m a dyed in the wool Mac user...

    3D printing an engine frame?

My sons gave me an Ender 3 V2 for my birthday in April, and I don’t think it’s been off more than a dozen hours since I got it. What a hoot! I’ve been printing gears in PLA to experiment with, and when I can get my experience level up to where it should be, I’ll try moving over to Nylon for...

    Ford 300 Inline Six

Terry, this is exactly as I expected it! Truly fantastic work, an exquisite running representation of a fine engine. I only hope that some day I can come close to your level of craftsmanship. Thank you for sharing! John W

    Machining 3D resin printed parts

Excellent advice, I forgot completely about CHEP! My sons pointed me to him when they gave me my printer, I use his bed leveling program already, and it’s a great tool. Thanks again! John W

    Machining 3D resin printed parts

As a new owner of an Ender 3 V2, I am very interested in pausing and placing all manner of metallic items in my prints. I’m new to the whole game, use Cura Slicer, and just getting acquainted with the software. Does anyone know if there’s a patch or code to cause the print to pause at a...

    Mini diesel engine.

I’ll be following this thread. I’m also wondering if O-rings would work, and thinking that perhaps a hard nylon ring (or three) might stand up to the abuse if it didn’t have too much of an “overhang”. Keep us posted! John W

    Ford 300 Inline Six

Nice recovery Terry. Glad it worked out so well, I worried that your crankshaft received irreparable damage, but knowing your ingenuity, I figured you’d already have a plan! John W

    Longboy's "SILO" Model Engine!

I’m making my own mods to “improve” a design as I go along. Obviously gonna stick with the operating premises associated with the non-compression principle and much of the design, but looking at some shortcomings, I’m looking for improvement as I go along. thanks for the encouragement!

    Longboy's "SILO" Model Engine!

Wow Dave, you’re not only creative, but extremely fast in your builds! I’m struggling along attempting to build Rudy’s Pioneer Engine and aren’t even half way done after a month and a half. :( Another beautiful runner, congratulations!!! John W

    Another Pioneer

I have a question for anyone that has built Rudy’s Pioneer. Is there any reason why I can’t center the spark plug in the head rather than in the intake manifold as he has drawn it? It seems to me that makes more sense! John W

    Another Pioneer

I decided to build Rudy’s Pioneer and started up with the materials at hand. Since I had a piece of nice DOM seamless tubing, I thought I’d start with that, even though it’s 1 1/4” ID instead of the plan callout of 1 1/8” ID. I heat shrunk and pressed an aluminum sleeve for the cooling fins...

a scratch built wobbler steam engine

May I suggest making a flat plate scaled to the size of the cylinder with the inlet hole, pivot hole, and crank pin hole duplicated in the flat plate? You could then rotate your crank to the optimum position for both inlet and exhaust position, and transfer the hole centers onto the steam...
