    Upshur's opposed twin engine

I spent 20 years with “bone-on-bone” in my right knee, got a replacement, and was able to live again! As a professional firefighter, my life was misery until that replacement, and afterwards I was a new man. Before, everyone waited for me to catch up, and now they have to try and keep up...

    Another Internal Combustion Engine

Looks great Ray, and I’m on pins and needles waiting for the first “pop”!!! John W

    Navy back to Sextant

I wonder if someone at the top is concerned about a virus impacting our satnav system in time of war…

    Involute Gear Cutters

As many of my plans call for a DP sizing, Mod cutters usually don’t cross close enough to fit those plans. However, I have a decent app called Gear Lab on my iPad and it does allow for conversion of a sort, and even gives me adjusted center to center axle distances if I need to make that change...

    Involute Gear Cutters

Excellent thoughts. I have an Enco 10X18 (metric of course), a 13X39 Combo machine (also metric), and my trusty Atlas Clausing 12X36. Comparing these three against my gear needs for say Phillip Duclos “Odds and Ends” engine (32dp), that’s a wide ranging set of prospects! Thanks for the insight...

    Involute Gear Cutters

Not a bad option, it looks like an application by application purchase. Thanks Steve! John W

    Involute Gear Cutters

I’m a new kid when it comes to cutting gears, and short of trying to make my own single point cutter, I thought I’d bite the bullet and buy a set of involute cutters. My question to the group, from a model engineering standpoint, which DP set makes the most sense and provides the best range for...

    Another Internal Combustion Engine

Looks great Ray, and nice tip on the form-a-gasket too. I’ve been considering a similar operation and wondered about the water seal around the liner. Thanks! John W

Removing piston from 1940's Atwood GD Glo-Devil

That’s a really unique updraft intake system! Twin rotary valves? I’m far from expert in areas of model airplane/boat/tether car engines, but that has to be quite different from the usual system. Thanks for sharing, John w

    Help with gears

For the lathe, I use a 4 jaw chuck and dial in the bore with a dti. On the mill. I center using a coaxial indicator and either a boring head or an expanding reamer if the bore is already close, and if threading, using the appropriate tap with tap starter in an R8 collet. Good luck, and accurate...

    First run of a 5" Rider-Ericsson

That’s a great scale! Will the pump move water when completed? Is there a water jacket for the “cold” end? Nice engine, congratulations on a good runner! John W

    3D printed steam engine

Here’s a link to the 3d engine I printed. All thanks to the original poster! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4322206 A bit of post processing to ensure a decent seal in the valve, piston, cross head, and (lack of?) stuffing box, as well as free rotation of those parts. I used a tiny bit of...

    3D printed steam engine

Perhaps we can collaborate on some of the printed parts for the geared engine, or maybe a group project?

    A novel rotary engine design.

I love the experimentation approach Pete! Takes me back to my early motorcycle racing days before there were “bolt on” accessories, especially for 2 strokes. John W
