i piicked up an automovite (vag) smart igniter yesterday, it uses a hall sensor or set of points/switch etc as a trigger, got it sparking quite easily, ill post some pictures when i get a minute.

very interesting engine this! i will be very interested to see it run, what are the chances of it latching the rocker arm when the spool is in the "miss valve position"? would this matter? as it would still have compression and would not coast very well, or have i missed something?

Looking good, it runs very similar to my one when the timing is a little out, like it wants to go but just cant push it over the edge. Id say everything looks free enough and sealed very well. Good work! James

The crank rotates a good six times freely when flicked by hand, im going "hit and miss" for sure, but i still need to decide if im going OHV or seperate bolt on vavle block with long rocker, i think the second option would be a simpler solution.

Well ive just come in from the garage after turning the flywheels, machining some brass mains bearings. Here is a few pictures to show some progress. I think the piston and con-rod will be next on the agenda, then prehaps start on the head.
