    Another Knucklehead Build

Still ... looking at some pictures on the netthe cilinders seem to be taller then the cranckase . Please don't consider this as criticism , its just an observation

Is it me or is it just the camera angle ? Somehow the cilinders seem to be pretty small compared to the crankcase . I like the bead blaseted look . What kind of blasting abrasive do you use ?

    Elmer’s #5 Geared Engine . . . maybe

Me to , it's been on my to do list for ages , and I also saved some cordless drill gears just for that purpose . Another good source for ring gears are bicyle hubs . The 5 & 7 speeds have 3 and 4 planetary gear sets of various dimensions . Pat

    Sand Mold Casting Problems

My , notreally mine found it on the net once , greensand recipe . All% are by weight ! 100% white sand Don't know it's real name , round here it is used for pavement . It has a pretty fine grain . Play sand also seems to work . 12 % powdered bentonite clay , has to be fine like flour ...

    Thumb piercings

Brads and airnailers .... had a ricochet once , hit me in the eyebrow and had to pull it out in front of a mirror . Kids said something like cool dad , thats a piercing . Stil shivering , 1/2 inch lower and I would have lost an eye .

    Sand Mold Casting Problems

I've learned over the years when casting ali , there's scrap and there's Scrap . Best results I ever got was using old scuba tanks as material to melt . Cut them into rings on the bandsaw , then crushed the rings on a hydrualic press to make them fit the crucible . Sadly I only had two , and...

    wire hose clamp tool .

I think most of us have probably seen them . A little tool that allows you to use steel wire to make hose clamps . If not do a youtube search for "clamptite" . There are a couple of videos explaining how it works . I'm currently converting an old car to propane injection , so I need a lot...

Drilling hardened rods , masonry drill

Here's something I think is worth sharing . I needed to cross drill and tap 16mm hardened rods , wich will eventually be the lineair rails for the router I'm building . Only the outer skin , maybe 1mm is hardened , the core is reasonably soft . These are not the chinese rails found on ebay...

    Model Compressor---Maybe

Yes I know backpressure could and most likely will be an issue . Most certainly on a two stroke , possably less on a four stroke . And the balloon pressure should be no more then a few fractions over atmosferic . So , who knows .... worth giving it a go ?

    Model Compressor---Maybe

Waay to go  Here's a thought : An IC engine is also a kind of compressor . Why not connect the exhaust of the engine to the intake manifold of the compressor , and see if it makes a difference . Pat

2 MM Metric left hand threads for wood lathe

Very nice work . What cutter did you use . Usually when I have to cut a left hand thread , I put a right hand cutter upside down and run the feed in reverse . Looks odd , but does work . Btw , metric threads are identified as follows . For std threads say M12 . Nominal diam is 12mm ...

    Model Compressor---Maybe

There was a videogame once it was called the incredible machines or something like that . You had to combine all kinds of gears and belts and various mechanical parts to make a certain movement happen . There was a mouse in a wheel as a power source , and if I remember it right there was also...

    Model Compressor---Maybe

Appologies for the OT , but a cool project would be a steam engine with corliss valves and have an arduino control the valve opening . Kinda like a "fuel injected " version of trhe steam engine . Brian , lovely project as usual , I'm watching  Pat
