Best to use high quality cells. Even SR44 can come in a variety of materials. Alkaline are rubbish so silver oxide are the ones I use here.

Englishman George Luhrs used to make some incredibly small engines and components including small glow plugs. Other than that we used to use glow inserts on rc pylon racing engines. Most model diesels dont use a plug, just ether, kero and castor oil.

Doc's Hoglet with the above ignition system.

Built plenty of 2 stroke mufflers using thin wall stainless as found in curtain rod material. Works fine, weight around the same as commercial aluminium. Silver solder together with cadmium blue tip. Care must be taken not to overheat the stainless during this process.

Old guy called Doc, posts in here from time to time, used a dual arrangement (on his Hoglet) of the enclosed pdf file (original from way back when.) I made up a pcb layout of just one circuit ( you'll need 2) as he doesn't always post too much detail.

Just be aware that using those crappy breadboards can, in many instances, give you bad connections and you can chase problems all over not realising it.

I also have a circuit using a 12V Ford cop coil, a few components including a hall effect. Works well.
