    Makings of a generator

Exactly what I said. Hint would be, coils need to be wound in a given sequence to operate as a generator.

    Makings of a generator

Think you need to take a good look at the way the coils are shown as being wound in #18 above.

Diesel glow heater plug - homemade !!?

You will NOT have sufficient space to fit that amount of nichrome wire. As I said, refer ohms law. My my what a load of weekend experts we have here.

Diesel glow heater plug - homemade !!?

    So kero not diesel fuel.

Diesel glow heater plug - homemade !!?

I doubt you will get sufficient resistance from a small heater coil to run at 6v let alone 12v. Reason why rc glow plugs run at around 4A @1.5v. Ohms law.

They're out of stock and no dimensions other than already quoted.

Diesel glow heater plug - homemade !!?

As far as I am aware it is standard nichrome wire. I have rolls of the stuff here left over from the days of repairing ice machines.

Oilite bearing sizes for Myford ML7

Which bushes specifically are you talking about? My manual from that same period has no numbering such as you refer to. The main spindle bushes are a "split bush" and mostly just need re-shimming to spec. EDIT: Did find the numbers you refer to but be aware they are for model serial before...

Diesel glow heater plug - homemade !!?

Main query would be, why do you think you need one ? Model diesel engines will not run on conventional diesel fuel anyhow. If methanol fuel, standard glow plug from rc could be used. I'm certain there is a way to get around it's short length if needed. Commercial model engines have always found...

Atom Minor Mark III - First IC Engine

Small percentage of acetone (10%) works as a catalyst and negates the problem. I remember we would tune our 1/2a motors at home then have to retune at the field. Reason turned out to be the methanol we bought from the Shell depo had 10% acetone for the blokes from speedway. When we arrived at...

    End of an (electrical) era

Not difficult.....all the components (3) come assembled on a module (KY-003) Signal connection directly place where points normally go with power to both rails. Module contains an LED for timing purposes. That all combined with more than enough info on the web for a 10 year old to get working...

    End of an (electrical) era

Hall effect can be utilised using the "missing material" method, no need for a magnet on the flywheel.

    End of an (electrical) era

Hall effect and magnet cost would be less than an ice cream. 3144 and a 3x1.5mm magnet around AUD$3.00.

    Off-Grider Generator Kit

Granted. However DC does not rectify to AC.

    Off-Grider Generator Kit

think it would be best to generate DC, charge some batteries, and then use a rectifier to get AC. No, does not work like that at all.

    Dynamo Video

Alternator is much easier and outcome is the same. One of two I built here around 2 or 3 years ago. Sufficient information on the original web site for me to reverse engineer the details and cast up the frames etc...

Drilling 0.3 mm holes into 0.3 mm stainless 1.4301 sheet metal

My experience with drilling speed for stainless is keep the speed low and the pressure on. If 19000 is what you expect to use, I'd say be prepared for mass failure as it'll simply burn the tip clean off.

Valve seat material in aluminum casting

Bronze cage with stainless valves. No need to "press fit" ALL the way, just make top and bottom slightly different size and press fit size the last few thou. each end.

Yes, Op is out of his depth.
