    Facing an inside shoulder .?s

If you coat the tip of the cutting tool with layout dye (dykem), you can see where it's rubbing and grind off the offending area. cheepo45

    Two IC newbies Build Websters

I'm sure a lot of us have other interests and responsibilities that take precedence over our model building activities. I do tend to jump from interest to interest a lot (ocd?). Seeing my latest creation start and run was pretty cool. The cold winter helped a lot, too. Keep building! cheepo45

    1/4 Scale #2 Drip Oiler

Hi everyone, Thanks for the compliments. This was made from the Martin and Morrison plans and kit. The kit wasn't much-just a couple of small springs, a short piece of acrylic tubing, a small piece of sheet brass, and the instructions. I had to gather all the rest of the materials and do all...

    1/4 Scale #2 Drip Oiler

Hi everyone, I have been working on a 1/4 scale oiler for my Gade engine. This parts are very small and "fiddly" It has been quite a challenge, but it came out really well. Here are some pictures. cheepo45

Popular Mechanics & Popular Science Index

Thanks, Chuck for compiling this index. My grandfather had Popular Science from about 1925 to 1970 in his attic. I spent many summers reading them by the stack. This started my interest in building things, fixing things and science and technology. This has all led to careers in Auto Repair...

http://youtu.be/xOfD3YXGyDI Here is the first video of my Gade engine running. It took a little fiddling and adjustment, but now it runs great. I'm looking forward to showing it off at Cabin Fever expo in April. cheepo45

    1/4 Scale Gade Build

Thanks for the compliments! I did have the fuel tank mounted on top for the first test run, but I couldn't put hardly any fuel in it without it running out the carb. intake. Once I get it running right, I may make a new flatter tank for a more scale appearance. My main priority is getting it...

    1/4 Scale Gade Build

After almost 5 years of on and off (mostly off!) building, the Gade motor is complete! Here are some pictures. I still have to build the oiler, and then the fun starts - getting it to run reliably! Thanks for following the build! cheepo45

    1/4 Scale Gade Build

Here are some photos of the fuel tank construction. I used 2 3/4 copper pipe caps to make the tank. I first cut mating 45 Degree angles on the open ends so the halves would mate together well. Then I drilled the outlet hole in one cap so pressure wouldn't build up during soldering. I clamped the...

    1/4 Scale Gade Build

Thanks, Dave for posting this article. It sounds like this was another great idea on paper that didn't work out so well in reality. Very interesting! I did actually get the engine running for a little while today! I still have a lot of fine tuning to do. The carburetor adjustment is way too...
