    Harbor Freight calipers.

I have several HF calipers. I understand you get what you pay for. I take a jo block or mic standard with me when I buy one to make sure of the accuracy. Sometimes I go through the whole pile! I take out the battery if I'm not going to use them for a while-they will kill batteries even when...

    My Running Engines

Here is a video of my completed engines running. The larger one is an Upshur Farm Engine that I built about 16 years ago. I have worn out 3 sets of rings and 2 cylinders in that time! It still runs great. I run it on a mixture of lantern fuel and 2 stroke oil. The base contains a 9 volt R/C car...

A very interesting place! They also have an awesome car show in September-last year there were over 600 cars! The Machine Shop is still my favorite part of the museum. Check it out if you are in the area. cheepo45

Newbie - How to get started? Need Advice

I would suggest getting a copy of Philip Duclos' book. Even if you don't want to build one of his engines, there is a wealth of information on model I.C. engine building including making your own piston rings. The feeling you get when your engine runs for the first time is priceless...

What is the use of a tool post grinder and who uses them?

I use a tool post grinder at work to grind rubber parts to +/- .001 tolerances. I use a very open grained grinding wheel to keep it from clogging up. One of the tricks is to make sure your grinding wheel is properly dressed so it has full contact with the part. cheepo45

    A new ignition circuit

Thanks for your efforts. I will be following this closely, as I am building a 1/4 scale Gade motor and I would like to find an ignition that fits in the battery box. Let us know what kind of coil you will be using. cheepo45

Philip Duclos "Odds N Ends" hit and miss engine

I used a wooden clothespin with vise-grips clamped on it to tension the wire when I wound the valvesprings for my Upshur Farm Engine-it worked great! cheepo45

    Car Repairs

I was an Auto Technician for 25 years before I became a Machinist. I have always done as many repairs on everything as possible. The money I have saved has gotten me many things, including a nice home machine shop! Cheepo45
