My Webster model 4 stroke engine

Cox You did a fantastic job not just at 14 or 15 but with the lack of real tools. I do not know where I would start and I doubt I would even finish. Cheers Nelson

    Over center manual cone clutch

Brian Very nice job with the universal joints. That also make it much easier to move to another motor regardless of shaft size. Make the half to the specs and replace with the right size. Very nice. Nelson

    Horsepower pony or clydesdale horses

Shoes I agree, a horsepower is a formula to be able to know what amount of power you need for your purpose. It really has nothing to do with breeds of horses. Nelson

    Poppin flame licker timing

Naiveambition In my opinion there is nothing more amazing than a flame licker sittng running smooth as silk. Nothing but the flame in perfect time with the cylinder opening. You have done a superb job on your builds. Thanks for sharing. Nelson

    Poppin flame licker timing

Naiveambition The way I find TDC is put something in the valve slot and turn the piston until it hits the inserted material, mark the flywheel with a reference then turn the opposite way and to stop and mark the the flywheel again. With a divider find the center spot on the flywheel, that will...

Dah Lih DL-VHR-GIF mill - a journey of discovery

James I might be wrong but the way I am looking at it and at any one time you would be drawing less than 2 HP. What about the idea of running a single 2 hp 220 single to 3 phase then draw everything off of it. Nelson

Dah Lih DL-VHR-GIF mill - a journey of discovery

James I would check with an electrician to see if it all could be run on a single VFD or maybe go with a Rotary Phase Converter. 3 VFD's would be quite expensive and all you really need is to create 3 phase power. Check your options before committing. Nelson

    Home made foundry question

Dave That is the way it should be every time even when mishaps happen like in the video. I believe they were pouring a lot of metal and it looked like no one was injured. If you are in tune with everything we all get to go home. Nelson

    Home made foundry question

If I wanted to I could write a book on the best reasons NOT to build your own foundry. Too much negative, but you all forgot to put in there how dangerous molten metal is. I do not understand. Nelson

    Home made foundry question

Shell casings, that would take a hole lot of casing to make anything large. Today I was at a tire store getting a couple of and bored out of my head. I hate sitting not able to do anything. So I went walking around with my buddy a Poodle named Munchkin and looked down and seen a valve stem...

    Mini Lathe Tips

one thing that I have not heard yet is the bigger machine you buy means larger tooling and tooling will cost you at least 2 to 3 times what you pay for the lathe. Nelson
