    Project of the month

Angie If a person has input to a build and contribute maybe they should at least have a Shout Out To. Maybe a T-shirt campaign to see how many are onboard.

Beautiful engine with a gorgeous sound, prefection.

    Project of the month

A better way to draw interest is to put a reply prize. Maybe it would draw more viewers and participants if they thought they could get something for just leaving a comment. Maybe a T-shirt or maybe a nice spread of photos for the POM for that month. I look almost every month and I am guilty as...

    Safety Turning

I'm in with holmes_ca , I use my dremel tool to cut a straight line about .250 long and about .125 deep, then angle toward the cutting edge. As the metal goes down it hit a stop and as small as it is usually breaks. I would rather get sprayed with brass the stringy chips. Nelson

    Collets

It sounds like some sort of ER style collet. The nut pushes into the holding position.

    New Quorn Build (question)

I jumped in on something that is a touchy one with a lot of people. When the Professor first started this machine. He was not looking to make a killing but it cost money to do all he did and for the money it is worth it. If a person buys it as a set it comes with documentation that gives...

    New Quorn Build (question)

It is so sad about this "copyright subject". It was just years ago almost all of this info was shared. Someone found that they could profit from it and now it is what we all put up with. The info is out there so let you search engines do their job. You can find most of what you look for.

    New Quorn Build (question)

Norm I guess the answer to your question of why could be a very easy one. The cost of fuel to melt that cast iron and the stupid laws making it no longer profitable. It is sad but a man or woman with a CNC could take a block of metal and widdle out a quality part and I am sure the cost to the...

    Lycoming/Continental boxer 4 engine information

gbritnell It seems that is the way our world has gone. You want something you pay for it. I think it is wrong but there is nothing I can do about it but if I was able to obtain a set of plans and saved them in my files when asked, if I have I will share like it used to be. My years are numbered...

    Great coolant except its toxic

phil Are you sure about the Ethanol. Ethanol is a simple alcohol with the chemical formula C₂H₆O It has a flash point of 170°, I don't think I want to spray a mist of Ethanol on metal that comes off and turns dark blue is seconds which means it could very be a good recipe for a fire?

    Making shim washers

There is things we can learn from almost everyone we meet either in person of through a video. I have been doing metal work for many years and as mentioned earlier about Joe Pie in Austin Texas is one of the sharpest cookies around. Some of his ideas are what textbooks are made of what make us...

    ENGINE SPEED GOVERNORS

Brian Congratulation is in order on this one. You earned your title of engine designer. She is a beauty and runs very nicely, the governor is doing everything it is made to do. Now take a well deserved break. Again, you did it. Nelson

    ENGINE SPEED GOVERNORS

I do not know if it would make a whole lot of difference but the spring mounts on the side of the governor if they were cut on an offset they could be tensioned or loosened with just a turn on the holders. That is one special governor, I fell in love with it. Thanks for sharing.

    Tapered thread

Tony I might agree if it had a given resistance but when backing of the die it should not have enough pressure to cut more metal like that. By the way this is a non-electric power cut, all by hand. If you feel that kind of resistance there is something wrong. It is the interference that create...
