Hi All, I don't know how it got from allen keys to a poor design of the camshaft. The number of engines Brian has built with this stile camshaft that work fine is a no brainer. I have been looking for a decent set of allen keys, mostly 3 and 4 mm in size as they seam to wear out very quickly...

Brian, After you get the other cylinder to work, then you will need to get them to talk to each other. Great going getting this engine to run, you will get there. Its been a long ride, but great to follow. Cheers Andrew

Olli, It is looking very good so far. As far as the cooling fins go, you do what you have to, it's all a learning curve. With the bore, I aim for 1 thou between the bottom of the cylinder and the exhaust ports, and 0.0001 between the exhaust port and the top of the cylinder. I picked up a bore...

A great looking engine, as above, piston fit is needed to be a very neat fit, the contra piston needs the same attention, except, it needs to be a tighter fit. Hope you don't give up on it. Cheers Andrew

Grasshopper, You should have been using a 0.374 reamer, the hole needs to be smaller than the shaft. Cheers Andrew

Gail, I have found this with the cheaper grades of cast iron bar. Never had the problem with higher grades. you can tell the difference by the sound of the cuts, the cheaper grade starts out hard on tooling and is like machining alloy in the center, the better quality is the same right through...

Hi All, Finished of machining of the crankshaft today. First machined up a jig to hold the crankshaft with correct offset for big end. Fitted crank in jig and then machined the big end to suite the conrod. Then moved assembly to the mill to machine the crank webs. Cheers Andrew
