Building a twin cylinder inline i.c. engine.

Sorry Brian, People have to get on the band wagon on different ign's that are not required for the engine. The Rcexl ign unit required for the "N" magnet is the "LV" of multi cylinder ign system for uneven firing engines, ie:- "V" twins. They have a 4 wire pickup. South pole for #1 cylinder and...

Seeking plans for twin cylinder inline i.c. engine

petertha, I changed mine(Jung V Twin) over to Spark, used the RCEXL LV spark box, required two magnets at 90deg apart, first south, second north facing. Done the same with the same engine(Magumn) 20 years ago, still run on glow fuel, spark for better idle and transition. Cheers Andrew

    18 Cylinders Isotta Fraschini (straight six-cylinder x3 )

One of the problems with building scale engines, you can not scale down the oil or fuel or air density to suite. Other problem that you found is the sizing of parts for the load. Great work and perseverance on building and getting it to run in the first place. Cheers Andrew

Brian, That looks about right, should work well with points Cheers Andrew

    Trembler Coils--(Constant spark)

Brian, The cam would be a disc with a cutout where the points would be closed, I would say between 5-10deg, and set for where you would like it to fire. Vintage spark model aircraft engines operate similar, the points are only closed for a short duration as to not over heat the coil or drain...

Compression tester for model i.c. engines

Brian, I have been thinking about this for a while, I had a look around my parts, had a couple of shrader valves(short), a couple of tyre valve inserts, ( I use them for charging air systems in my models) and a gauge. Yes I know that it is 200psi but that is just what I had in the parts bin...

Vertical 4 cycle engine from recycled parts

Brian, That is what happens when you don't do enough, mine has gone the same, would be lucky if I lay down 12" of weld a year now. Keep up the good work, I have been following. Cheers Andrew

Vertical 4 cycle engine from recycled parts

Brian, The usual magnet is the south pole, some mark the north pole with the red mark. Also the sensor has a narrow band where it will work, any where from 1/16" to just over 1/8". I have a tester to check the pickups and also to set timing, takes all the guess work out of it. It may be working...
