    Sieg lathe motor conversion

I put temperature gauge on mind to watch. I am surprised the carbon dust is inside motor it should have been cleaned by cooling fan. Maybe that is why I saw on large industrial motor with the blower was over the brushes keeping motor cool. Dave

    Powder paint for model engines

I like painting parts with Lacquer. Unless painting over old paint then Rust-oleum. When I was painting tons of casting I would dip in Rust-oleum. Dave

Thoughts on cooling a model engine with oil instead of water

On aircraft engines they did use oil and air cooling. Water is very good coolant for engines. The problems with oil is the sulfur in the oil under heat it turn to sulfuric acid. Back to square one. They have found distilled water is best for reducing corrosion. Dave

    End of an (electrical) era

I wish had schematic on the electric eye type. It would simpler to build would not need magnetic on flywheel All you need is the electric eye and micro oven transformer rewind to 12 volts Dave

where can i buy 42mm 18 ga copper tube

Copper pipe is seamless. I can tell why they call pipe but is used for steam. You can lookup pressure and the type you to be safe. There other types for higher pressure too and will cost more. When see it in metric someone has covert from pipe size to metric. Dave

Other uses for a lathe around the home.

Everything I have seen it probably closer 99.9% I had catalog showing a lathe manufacturer make single cylinder engine on there lathe. They did line boring. Keying the crank shaft and timing gears. This catalog was before 1900. Dave
