Brown and Sharp 2G screw machine ?

When a lot work a tapping head in drill press. I thinking of buying lead screw tapper fof both taps and dies. I found you could do about 6 tapped parts per minute or 360 parts per hour in drill press. A lead screw tapper is faster. FYI My parts had threads both ends. Dave

Brown and Sharp 2G screw machine ?

The Brown and Sharp book goes in detail for threading. The threading uses cams for threading and tapping. It also has thd rake angle for turn tools. This works great in engine lathes too. Dave

Brown and Sharp 2G screw machine ?

A screw machine can simple to setup or very time consuming. Unless you are do a long run over 10,000 parts avoid threading and complex setups. 2 or 3 sets cams can do most work under 3,00p parts. I also had Trub screw machines. On machine I keep to just one set of cams. The parts just took a...

Brown and Sharp 2G screw machine ?

You find it simpler to just a few standard cams and do threading in lathe or drill press. It is real pain to do thread on 2G. . I own a 2G and 00

Protection to Micro lathe power supply?

I would use on the treadmill motor a thermal fuse around 90°C / 200°F . Just use a tubing clamp or wire for thermal fuse to motor. Use wire nuts so change the thermal fuse. Thermal fuses are found on Amazon, Walmart or a Aplance parts store. Dave

Protection to Micro lathe power supply?

I did not think of other uses for low speed DC motors . I first put a DC motor on a bench lathe in 1982. On that lathe I could touch the motor and check the temp. I did not think of Treadmills had this problem too. Bynow I would think they had overheating work out on treadmills. Good luck...

Protection to Micro lathe power supply?

The fast blow fuse is mainly for electronics. The slow blow is used on motor for starting load. It also on welders because start needs more amp for few seconds. Note most just use a large breaker that does not offer protection need.

Protection to Micro lathe power supply?

The main problem is low speed turning . My lathe did come slow blow fuse. Did think of axillary fan but did know temperature. So when the way cars and trucks have a temperature gauge. This way I stop work long before it gets real hot 🔥. It is to costly to put inside so doing the next...
