Tring to figure out how to model the hypocycloidal and epicycloidal curves of a supercharger rotor in alibre cad. This is really making me pull my hair out! Steve H, have you managed this with your model blower?? Im trying to design a 3 lobe rotor for a blower with a 71ish cid displacement...

Toyota 4 Cylinder Engine 22RE 3d printed model

The whole point is to be able to do it at home. You would be surprised how much it would be to sls print that block. Now to do it in lost pla....well now were talking! I printed the SBC block and have plans to cast it using the lost pla process to see what happens. Block printed with full...

    Machinable wax

Well to throw all the mumbo jumbo aside, I need something that can be printed at 100 microns or less with a much lower thermal expansion than pla. I can get great results with the lost pla casting, but when it comes to certain things (like small blind holes) lost pla just isnt cutting it...

    Machinable wax

Great find Tin, maybe something like this will keep me from having to buy a new printer. Question is, what does it print like, and whats the thermal expansion like?

    Machinable wax

Yes, thats me, that video is pretty outdated compaired to what i do now. I want some of this wax!!!! Whats the lowest resolution you can print it at? I typically print at 80 microns, but sometimes will do 50 microns.

    Machinable wax

Machinable wax, Im curious how and what you used for the wax to print it. I do alot of lost pla casting and would love to have a printable wax filament.

    Casting Boiler shells?

I would be curious to see how a cast firebox works out, and I also understand why they say "dont". I have to think that it is possible to do but would question its long term safety. I dont think I would try it as a pure copper casting. Maybe silicon bronze? Sitting here scratching my head, I...

Making a set of Wallaby castings

alot of work goes into a casting, but the rewards you get when you have a good casting in your hands is well worth it.

    The lathe Face Plate

I think I have only used the face plate for machining a few times, and it was a long long time ago. Im pretty sure that at the time I was using the face plate that the lathe was my only piece of equipment so having to find a way to make things work I had to use what I had. I can see where a...

FOUR JAW CHUCK do like it or hate it 4

95% of the time I use my 4 jaw independent chuck, it has larger deeper jaws than any of my 3 jaw chucks and I feel most comfortable working with it even though it does take a minute to set up. Most of my 3 jaw chucks have about .005" run out so unless im doing something quick and dirty I use the...
