    Sprut cam help needed

Im trying to learn some more about sprut cam. I have made a couple of parts using it and have modeled up the frame and base for Elmers wobble plate engine and am working on the G code for them. I put all the parts on one piece of stock to help cut down on set up time and have been running it on...

The future of the "engine kit"

Since were on the speed and feed thing, i have a question for everyone who has a cnc mill and would be considering running other people's codes. Whats your max spindle rpms? Unfortunately my g0704 is limited to 2300 rpms. Maybe it would be best to limit the feed rate to whatever the slowest...

The future of the "engine kit"

I have to order some 1/16 end mills. I will run it next week when they get here. The documentation looks good though.

The future of the "engine kit"

Hmm, i see your points. Ill have to put some thought into it, but im thinking that documenting it with pictures may be some help. I would still like to see you try it with one part (maybe the head) just to see how it went? Im new to cam, perhaps thats a good thing when it comes to...

The future of the "engine kit"

Steve, you would not make a good used car salesman. Lol. IIRC there is a free cam simulator out there somewhere that may put some fears to rest about running someone elses code. What other things have you run into??

The future of the "engine kit"

Oh No, it wouldnt be something to sell. Just something to put together and post on the forum for others to try out. Something simple and fun to cut ones teeth on.....

The future of the "engine kit"

Maury, if you had something you wanted to try out I have Sprut cam and have been toying around with it some and would not mind taking a crack at something for you. Im still new to cnc, but the only way to learn is to do it. Ive also printed up a couple of Elmers plans and am surfing thru them...

The future of the "engine kit"

Have to agree, a sample part would be a great idea as proof of concept. Might also be good for wetting the appetite as well.

Lol. Even just supplying the cad drawings would keep 51% of us happy.

    local foundry ???

try doing a search, but avoid the word "foundry" Instead use sand castings, or the specific alloy like bronze castings for a search term.

    local foundry ???

I gave up on the local foundries years ago. The larger foundries don't want to be bothered with walk in one off parts or are priced so astronomically high you walk out with nothing other than tightly clenched butt cheeks. The EPA and OSHA did a number to the smaller foundries here in the...

    Team CAD build engine poll

Surprisingly it does print as one piece without support. There is a few boogers i need to clean off but nothing too bad. But as far as casting, there are some really thin areas of investment that would likely fail under the lost pla casting process as well as some very thin walls. Still though...

    Team CAD build engine poll

Its likely outside thier bounding box. Ive done several jobs that they couldnt/ wouldn't do. At a guess, to do this block in brass i would expect it to run about 2K, but its likely not to meet thier min wall thickness and clearance. That 2 k is what shapeways would likely want....iirc...

    Team CAD build engine poll

I have a guys e mail that modeled a stromburg carb. Ill see if i can dig it up and ask him if he would mind sharing. Im not so sure he will, he wanted to be the first to build a complete scale running flatty. I mailed him a block to model from, but havent heard from him in some time now. Doesnt...
