Seeking plans for twin cylinder inline i.c. engine

Not sure if you got your reply already but but when I dealt with him, I added to cart, populate address/Canada (so it calculates shipping cost). I can't recall if I paid Paypal or Visa but it completes FX conversion. At 29.80 euros shown, works out to 43.52 KanuckaRubles sans shipping. The plans...

Cutting oils What do you use?

Stefan.G on Youtube uses isopropyl alcohol & did a demo cutting aluminum. I tried it myself & it does work, nicer finish. My only thing is its very thin viscosity (2.8 cP vs water at 1.0) so you have to kind of babysit its application or it just runs away. I tend to like oils more & fore sure...

Seeking plans for twin cylinder inline i.c. engine

If this RPM came from Jung specs, he is probably being realistically accurate & reflects typical 4S glow ignition performance. Lower RPM on glow can be had (within reason) but typically comes by adjusting specific things: fuel composition, timing, carb, onboard glow... & may come at the expense...

Seeking plans for twin cylinder inline i.c. engine

The Jung plans are all methanol glow plug engines which Brian said he didn't want. But spark plugs can be had with same 1/4-32 threads, they are just a bit longer body. Or smaller plugs yet as mentioned in another post. So long you can figure out the rest of the spark ignition system & gasoline...

    Whittle V8

I'm not sure if this is the current portal for Roy's electronics, but I got the impression from the web message that he was winding down. I don't want to conjecture without knowing details, just passing on. http://www.cncengines.com/

    Whittle V8

Jeez, I've been asleep with my glow plug tunnel vision, LOL, how did I miss this? Sorry for the post tangent @Peter Twissell

    Whittle V8

Peter, I've watched your YouTube video & occasional build posts <drool>, but are your plugs & distributer & general ignition system detailed anywhere I may have missed? I would love to know more details of how you went about this challenge if its something you'd like to share. Its literally the...

Resistor & grounding CDI ignition modules

Thanks for this Don. Electronics is not my strong suite for sure, but the charts & your description are quite revealing to this laymen. - now would this issue 'scale' in that model engine A uses a commercial RCEXL CDI and engine B uses a car or motorcycle coil & so different voltage/current...

Resistor & grounding CDI ignition modules

Thanks Terry, that helps a lot. The interweb is useful once you know what you're searching for! There must be some reason to get the resistance nearest to spark source (in the plug) vs equivalent resistance in the plug wire itself. Just relating to with/without resistor I just noticed the CG...

    1/3 Scale Ford 289 Hi-Po

Very nice, Terry. Maybe I missed it but are either the roller or shaft hardened? What retains the shaft within the rocker finger holes? About how much valve lift will you have?

Resistor & grounding CDI ignition modules

I started Googling what the resistor was all about on typical RCEXL type CDI ignitions & it looks to be quite a controversial rabbit hole. Some say to prevent arcing issues if you cant rely on the ground return path through the crankcase assembly. Others say its for RF issues related to RC...

    Help requested with casting

If you end up getting a price quote & its ok to share, I'd be interested to know just out of morbid curiosity. Or PM if you feel broadcasting is not appropriate. I have similar thoughts in my head. I can CAD & have easy access to 3DP, but the molten metal aspect is a whole new hobby unto itself...

    Whittle V8

Looks fantastic. I'm very intrigued by your version of the modified glow plugs & torqueing in tool if you have some pics handy. I fiddled around with some dead plugs I had laying around to see if/how I could similarly reduce them, more out of morbid curiosity than any particular need. Jewelry...

My new project ...Small diesel engine .

There is an interesting YouTube video by 'Smarter Every Day' called Why Fuel Injectors are Awesome (28,000 fps Slow Mo).... Seeing those teeny, tiny injector holes spray mist/droplets over millisecond pulse duration at 2-3 Kpsi is very interesting. Spoiler alert, he breaks out the torch for some...

    Whittle V8

Very nice, Peter. I always liked Whittle's design but felt it was beyond my skill level at least for time being. It is a nice rendition of an aero v8 with lots of practical build features. Keep us posted on your progress, the pics thus far are great.

    Sprayed-on 3D Printed Pattern Filler

Nice F3D. I bet some of your buddies know some of my buddies LOL U Pol sounds a lot like Duratec, which is a real workhorse sealer commonly used in composites industry. Its very tenacious, high solids, finishes very fine. I've seen expensive plugs & molds surfaced with this & nothing else other...

Fabricated Ignition Distributor for 4 cy. model i.c. engine

Thanks George, that is useful history. The 4-cyl OHV plans I have from you (I don't even remember when I bought them, they have been in the 'fantasy one day' pile for a while now haha). But I pulled them out the other day for a looksee & was coincidental to this post subject. They show a 1.124"...

Mastiff lc mason engine REDO .

Bringing it to life looks like a noble project. Keep us posted. For some reason there seem to be a few of these Mastiff orphans floating around. I've seen them come up on this & other forums. Do you an idea of what kind of ignition system you'll use...

Fabricated Ignition Distributor for 4 cy. model i.c. engine

@Steamchick hopefully my post was not misleading. I have no desire to buy a finished kit like this. I am just an amateur model engineering builder. But my blind spot is spark ignition systems, which is where I want to go next. I'm just specifically mentioning the distributers & underlying...

Fabricated Ignition Distributor for 4 cy. model i.c. engine

Timely post. I was just about to draw up GB distributor & some others I've seen in Strictly IC. Terry Mayhugh & other builders have also done nice work. But admittedly I don't have a very good grasp of the electronics. As a side note, when I look at these commercial Chinese engines popping up...
