    Searching for Lanz Bulldog 12HL

Was hoping that you wouldn't mind the direct note - - - - I was impressed by the scope of the whole. My guess is that most of that landed up being a labor of love rather than making any $$$$ at it. (The old Field Marshall that was part of my history has now, as far as I can tell anyway, gone...

    Searching for Lanz Bulldog 12HL

@GreenTwin just did a quick boo for a lookee see you may wish to take a gander - - - - lanz.jpg (sorry site is in Italian - - - wanted you to see the casting 'boards' - - - - thought that might be of interest for you (hopefully!!).)

    316 Stainless steel cutting

What are the machining parameters that are working? (speeds and feeds with a diameter of the material) maybe a pic of the chips?

    316 Stainless steel cutting

Dunno about it being 17-4 - - - that stuff is real tough working material. As the stuff is magnetic - - - maybe a 400 series? (If I'm remembering things from the machinery's handbook at all.)

    Taper setting device

Fascinating - - - a CNC lathe would be nice but I've got a big ol' girl here that could use a good taper attachment. (Remember finding cutting internal NPT threads - - - that was less than 'fun' - - - chuckling!)

    Introducing myself as a newbie

Thought I'd look but the information isn't readily available for me to find so: A shout out for one of the existing members that lives within a not totally awkward distance from our young sir. Perhaps there is interest in sharing not only knowledge but also equipment. Dunno if this is an...

    Sprayed-on 3D Printed Pattern Filler

Re: work to far from headstock - - - Just use your heavy duty boring bar fastened on the rear side of the square toolpost (or similar positioning on other types). That should give you a lot of reach AND give you a maximum diameter machinable.

    Help requested with casting

Dunno if mr greentwin is so inclined but he might be willing to do such. (He posts here with quite some regularity re: at least casting.) Possibly there is some equivalent person in the uk that might be willing to assist. Could also be a way of learning a new aspect or is that a new hobby - -...

    Bore Gauge

If you're finding that bearing races are 'very flexible' when you're trying to use them as a pseudo setting ring gauge I would suggest that you've not got a very 'nice' technique for setting your bore gauge or other form of measurement. In my experience - - - by the time I got the feel of...

    Bore Gauge

Me being a right proper cheap sob found that using bearings instead of a ring gauge - - - pretty much worked. A ring gauge is likely a better idea except it was so bloody easy to get bearings in so many different sizes and ring gauges - - - not so much (and their cost - - -ouch).

    Stuart 10V - Missing Part I.D.

I would guess that the use of the flux-core wire was more for use in the outdoor or on-site rather than requiring the use of either hordings or the necessity of transporting the piece to a shop. Flux-core is often also used with CO2 shielding its just that in the outdoors gasses are a right...

    Stuart 10V - Missing Part I.D.

Its a great material for bushing in heavy duty applications. Use a hardened steel pin and add some seals to keep the grease in and you can get some fairly low maintenance pins/bushings on heavy equipment.
