    Ignition question

Did you ever wonder why you don't see a distributor on all those 4 cylinder motorcycles? wasted spark. Honda's have single primary and a dual secondary that goes to 2 plugs one with + spark one with - spark. The coil has to jump 2 spark gaps though. So if you can find a motorcycle dual out...

    Ignition question

I have done this many times . Use 2 coil over plugs with primary's in series. They have VERY low primary resistance so this actually helps that a bit. I use dg508 coils from ebay about 5$ each. I use the Dave Sage coil driver circuit. I even made a V8 this way no distributor. 8 coils. 4...

    Black Widow V8

I have a casting set and completed a complete Black Widow. Dwight Giles and Ken Hurst did most of the work but I did the final work to complete. Dwight still has the patters , but is not willing to loan them to anyone he doesn't know and trust. This is a second run video . It now has 2 carbs...

    Another Atkinson Differential build

An aquarium air pump and one of those vaping devices comes to mind. The vaping device has a potent battery and a heating element. Don't know what they cost, perhaps they actually have a useful purpose. ?

Thanks again. I really appreciate all you do for this site/hobby/ obsession. The tale of 2 cranks was very enlightening. Or depressing , if it is your own bent crank. I have the v8 version of the bent one.

I was confused because I marveled at the beautiful starter splines on the front of the crank. I use 1 way sprag/Torrington bearings for starters on most of my models. Thanks.

Left Hand thread? Usually a flywheel going CCW has a right hand thread? Perhaps I am wrong. As always, thanks for you informative posts.

    Another Atkinson Differential build

I made one once with a NiChrome wire heating element submerged in oil, baby oil? I forget. The hard part was the electrical feedthrough, I had a panel mount BNC teflon insulated feed-through. The thing was made from an old pint paint can. Worked fine but the food smoker sounds like a better...

Loctite 680 and its use in a press fit application?

Just my 1.414 cents worth. With .0625" wall thickness cast iron cylinders after being perfectly bored and pressed in are no longer perfect and have to be honed back to size. With a good slip fit and 680 no problem. Also some castings are not perfect, and if you have porosity that needs to be...

Never saw them before, they are glow plug engines though. Very nice looking.

Just my opinion, My friend Dwight Giles reminds me when he makes his V8 cranks they are rubber, and can be bent back into shape. A soft hammer can fix a lot of the stress induced warping. Also he tends to over correct and wait a day, yep it grows back. So in short, wack it ,or press it, don't...

Always amazed! could you detail how you went from the final cnc stage to the final polished stage. Is it just hard hand work? I know you often bead blast . Possibly blast then polish? Thanks for all your posts.

If you ever find the plans I am interested. I have an 1974 R/90 and made a Wall Wizard kinda close but the details are very nice. Perhaps put it in an Isetta?

    3 radial cylinders

Thank you for the plans link. You put the plans picture many times in your posts. Sorry my laziness. After looking at all your wonderful posts today , again, are the valves made from screws? Were the stems good enough? or did you cut the seat and then cut/polish the stem? or just the...
