    Monotube Flash Boiler Design

My position - you can find tons of images/documents on Net to figure how complicate is this "simple" device. But the overall impact is not that significant in Toymaker's powerplant so I wouldn't stuck here . Of course we can discuss - clarifications are always welcome. And ... it is working on...

I see. Only because of view direction I could not notice the tangential orientation of intake nozzle.

    Monotube Flash Boiler Design

Hi Toymaker. I know you mention a swirl movement of air inside sphere, but have you thought about maximizing it? Swirl effect separators are among the best in what concerns efficiency and reduced losses; and the trick is to lengthen as much as possible the travel of stream in spiral. Personally...

    Monotube Flash Boiler Design

Yes. Personally I'm a bit scared of ceramics for mobile applications after incidents in NASA's space shuttle program. Though 2mm is not that much. There is also a thermal shock at cold start which is hard to evaluate in time. Though not equal, I had ceramic crucibles that cracked due to unequal...

    Monotube Flash Boiler Design

I might suggest for the next replacement of restrictor plate a sacrificial design with progressive fail but usually devil is in details. What - at one moment - might seem a solution, could be also the origin of next failure. For restrictor plate I would go for a relatively light design (mass is...

    Monotube Flash Boiler Design

Mostly I am concerned by the radiation plate/disk of the burner. What is "cooled" - even by lower temperature gases on their return, is more protected, both chemically and from mechanical strength point of view. The burner has to take mechanical shocks of the car and, maybe, misfiring blow...

    4 Cylinder Inline Engine

What about 2 small ball bearings on the sides, supporting the center of crank shaft? Just for fun...

    Monotube Flash Boiler Design

I had a flame pad like this: https://www.tnsoutdoor.com/campingmoon-fire-pad-burner-pad-twill-high-mesh-us-120-us-150 but for domestic use; those round you can find in general stores, made from stainless steel for kitchen stove. I was very disappointed because it corroded and broke into...

Building a twin cylinder inline i.c. engine.

Was just a hypothesis... Good luck!

Building a twin cylinder inline i.c. engine.

What I meant was maybe cold-run setup (electric motor) could rotate engine differently than normal spinning direction. Direction is (maybe) meaningless for cold engine break - or somebody could decide so, for certain reasons.

Building a twin cylinder inline i.c. engine.

Is the crankshaft counter-rotating in "RUNNING IN TAPPETS IN GUIDES 001" because of setup available? When valves cross, exhaust should move first to release gases , than admission moves to take fresh mixture. Admissions of both cylinders should be clearly opposed (as timing) - I believe...

Building a twin cylinder inline i.c. engine.

Hi Brian, You have to believe in what you did; to believe it s right! There must be some glitch, but you will overrun it. Take it systematically. Start running motor with only one cylinder, preferably the one giving signs of life. Replace ignition with one known to work (just to be sure it is...

Need advice and help : A remote display caliper

For those interested and with access to Vevor, glass scales and display unit is a much more useful option: https://eur.vevor.com/linear-scale-c_10122/cnc-2-axis-digital-readout-scale-dro-linear-machine-for-mill-lathe-bridgeport-p_010241862481 There is also a set of I-Gaging-like cheap set...

Need advice and help : A remote display caliper

I have the cheap version of I-Gaging; that with aluminium bar. I have more of them, some installed, some waiting. Straight out of the box they were satisfactory. Checking them, they were all working. In workshop environment (I have one on Mill Z and one on the lathe carriage along bed) they...

    Tabletop CNC

NanoEls4 is in fact 2 axis so it is definitely more than an Electronic lead screw. I guess he called it ELS just because it was a development of previous version NanoEls2 which was driving only lathe's lead screw. But if you have a lathe spindle precise encoder, always want more.... You can...

    Tabletop CNC

I do not take it as confrontation -at least if it is not about ideas . I don't fight anybody (and don't pretend others do...). The main ideea is machine's rigid construction is one of main factors of success and the most expensive one. Using existing lathe would solve this roadblock. In my post...

    Tabletop CNC

Hi Timo, It is not a round but is a revolution feature so makes sense to be made on the lathe. I have explained above how I see it done with NanoEls 4. You only have to consider it semi-automatic and keep excel tables instead of CAD designing (and I personally don't know yet how to CAD-CAM to...

    Tabletop CNC

I understand your question and do not intend to run from a problem i have raised to myself. With only leadscrew in native form. using milling spindle/mill as tool, you can make it sequentially, manually driven. Make a table - angle vs radius for the cam, advance chuck 1 degree at a time and...

    Tabletop CNC

? But on Github there is everything you need to build one. Assembly diagram is extremely simple for someone with specific skills and firmware is there also; 3d print models and so on. Maybe a friend that can help you... And there are others available; some of Chinese origin. I am really sorry ...
