FOUR JAW CHUCK do like it or hate it 4

Same for me, use it about as often as the three jaw. Some things just can't be done without one. ( of course, a faceplate can do them too, but with more setting up) Not sure what the last option in the poll is

Don't confuse swing over cross slide with cross slide travel. Even then, the same site (Carter) lists the travel as 2.25"

    Ventilation

I work in the oil&gas industry where electrical equipment operated in explosive atmospheres is obviously taken very seriously and is heavily regulated. In fact, that is exactly my job, I deal with EEHA(Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas) every day. If you must use an exhaust/ventilation...

Bicycle Dynamo powered by model I.C. engine

A car was struck by lightning in New South Wales late last year, just one of the many news articles with video and story at the following link: http://www.smh.com.au/environment/weather/man-survives-after-car-struck-by-lightning-in-newcastle-video-20131123-2y29y.html An excerpt: ''I was...

Cheers Al. Actually, I recall looking at that lathe back when I purchased the C3, I remember thinking it was an unusual looking beast. Sounds like I was fortunate it was out of my budget back then. Cheers again. I'm pretty sure I have decided on an upgrade, the Sieg SC4.

    Hare & Forbes, Titan

Hi Dennis, I'm currently trying to make the same decision as you. I also briefly looked at the AL320G which appears to be a popular lathe, and the AL60 (a Seig C6) however I have very limited space in my workshop and a bench space of 1000x600mm max. so these two are, for me, too big. H&F no...

    Kerzel Hit and Miss

Awesome work Weez! I've been meaning to build the Kerzel for many years and have about 75% completed the modelling in 3D CAD to convert the plans to metric, but I never finished.... (w*rk and a new baby boy etc etc.) Seeing your completed engine has inspired me to get to work on this again...

    Taig and Sherline

Hi Al, may I ask the make/model of the larger lathe you purchased? I have had a C3 for close to a decade now I think, and I really want to upgrade/upsize. My workshop space is very limited and the choices over here, as you know, are a bit limited. If your lathe is on my shortlist, based on your...

Bicycle Dynamo powered by model I.C. engine

At some point people wanted brighter torches(flashlights ;) ) so the torch manufacturers started using lower voltage rated globes. They run hotter and brighter but the obvious tradeoff is reduced lifetime of the globe. 'Dolphin' brand torches usually have a spare globe inside for this reason. I...

New tool post for my lathe

As I said previously, a search for this model number comes up with almost zero information. It looks almost identical to the Chester lathe, and also the 'CQ6125' type lathe, just minus the gearbox. I suspect a toolpost for any of the 10" x 22" (250x550mm) clones would be a good fit Thm:

New tool post for my lathe

OK, not even close to a C4! After a bit more google image sloothing, it appears to be the same cross-feedand compound as the Chester DB10G, for which Chester have a QCTP available. I'm still trying to find if there's another same rebadged machine. Does this look familiar?

New tool post for my lathe

Hi Lars, do you have another photo of the whole lathe? I've tried searching for the model number you gave but not got much info from google. From the photo above it looks very similar to a Sieg C4 or SC4 but not identical. The compound slide is different and the cross-slide, tho slotted like the...

Bazmak diary of a sieg SX 2 bench mill

Just throwing it out there if you haven't seen it yet, but worth looking at TouchDRO. http://www.yuriystoys.com/p/android-dro.html The app is free and the developer is a member here. If you don't have an Android tablet, even a cheap older(tho OS 4.0 or newer) is capable of running the app...

Bicycle Dynamo powered by model I.C. engine

The sight of this thing has caused an involuntary twitch in my left eye. Memories of my youth and how damned inefficient these things are. I can't find an english version, but this video is exactly how I remember it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7kgzgcqe5s

Can One Put a Model Engine Into A Radio Control Vehicle?

Sure it's possible, and has been done many times. I dream of doing it myself one day with a Ford flathead V8 in a '32 or '33 Ford coupe model, towing a scale mahogany Chris Craft Racing Runabout, also with flathead. Pipedream at the moment(work, new baby, blah blah blah), but one day. Do a...

    A V8 Maybe

Hi George, I have wanted to build a Ford flathead from barstock too, and also have the same problem. It has been done by a member here, and I have contacted him for information but sadly have never had a reply. Have a look at Roger's barstock flathead build here...
