I actually use the Professional version of Alibre and pay a yearly update fee. However Alibre Atom3D is 90% of what you get with pro but costs a lot less. You can pay a one off or also pay for maintenance (updates). Store it all on your own machine not the cloud. 1month free trial is...

    Stuart S50

When originally brought out the S50 had bronze cylinder, chest and covers and these are what you are likely looking at. They have been supplied as iron for along time now so no need to change unless bling is your thing. If you do change then bronze would be better than brass something like...

    Steam engine on compressed air

I expect the 1cfm rating for the compressor is actually it's displacement as that is how a lot of small compressors are described due to it sounding better in the sales blurb. What you really want is the FAD "Free Air Delivery" which is the volume of air it will actually put out. and this can be...

    36x60x54 Twin Tandem Mill Engine

It is possible to add draft at the design stage. You will also have to add machining allowances to all surfaces that need it, again do it at the design stage. Then your 3D prints will have teh draft and just need the surface ssmoothing before they are ready to use as patterns. My usual way is...

    Suggestions for First I.C. Engine

Am I missing something as the River Queen looks to be a steam/air engine and OP wants an IC engine.

    Rider Ericsson Homemade Castings

I also use ebay portable camping stove burners like this, just remove all the bits you don't need https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/375447067615 For my 40mm dia bore engines they only just need to be turned on so there is more heat available. You can see them in these videos

    Trends in Metal Casting

Given the amount of motor below water level I would say the guy in the shorts is trying to free the boat as it must have run aground. Have a look on youtube for some of these boats, 6 or 7 motors on some of them. recreational fishing or posing.

Casting Kits I would like to see For Sale Again

Even if the wood compresses when clamping all the important surfaces will be machined at the one setting. Even if it were to move all that would be required would be a bit of filing around the bottom edge of the casting to get the engine upright again.

    dimetric drafting, ellipses

I just went looking for LINEX templates as they used to do a whole range of different angles but it does not look like they are even made these days. ebay has listings for them as "Vintage" Used to have a Sataday job in a drawing office suppliers and sold loads but just like technical pens they...

Casting Kits I would like to see For Sale Again

There is very little that actually needs a milling machine, infact most can be done in the 4-jaw and a block of wood is all that is needed to machine the base on the lathe. Keep changing the last number to 2, 3, 4, etc and read all these pdf which were written at a time when most holeworkshops...

    Upshur's opposed twin engine

This is what people here and on MEM have been saying to you for ages. You are setting your cams by when they open. With the excessive amount of lash that you have and other issues the duration is unlikely to be anything like the cam was designed to give. Reduce the lash and use when the peaks...

    Unknown casting

There are not many hit and miss engines that have the timing gear and shaft on that side where your lugs are on the bed casting so should narrow your search but not one that springs to mind at the moment

    Internal gear

I've done a couple for epicyclic gear boxes. I just printed out a single tooth profile and hand ground a cutter from HSS. On something like Elmers you are not going to be transmitting massive loads so if you don't get the profile right it is not the end of the world. I just used my mill's quill...

    Alyn Foundry "RLE" Engine

Thanks, they are quite nice castings. Most of mine were old stock but the flywheels were recently cast. I've also done the CAD for replacement head and cylinder patterns as they others were stolen as the aluminium match board was attractive due to it's scrap value. Only downside to light paint...

    Alyn Foundry "RLE" Engine

Another notch on the workshop wall. Still needs slowing down and the pick up after the governor latches out is stuttering too much but happy with how it has turned out.
