    Carbide inserts

Theres always HSS blanks. Get a good grind on them, learned that in trade school. Watch your speed & feed. Carbide seems to work on the higher HP production machines, flooded with coolant. Hobby machines may have a problem pushing carbide, Needs a lighter chip load. What kind of material...

    Need drawings?

That's an interesting concept. Never seen one of those before. Not familiar with the "Wig wag" engines. Looks like I'm on a short hiatus at the moment, my CAD computer has crashed it's hard drive & spring has come where I will be spending more time outside. I'm exploring alternatives to the...

    CAD /Autocad Help

The greatest architecture, machines, everyday things were conceived on paper. Or burlap, or a piece of bark.. Marks in the dirt.. I still play with my old Dietzgen (Sp?) set of drafting tools. When I was in "tech school" (in the 80's, pre-CAD), I was in the Tool & Die program, drafting...

Building Up a Flywheel - One Way to Do It

Here is yet another alternative to a built up flywheel. (I hadn't added the barring holes/slots) This type was mostly used on very large engines I believe.

    Offenhauser Mighty Midget Racing engine

Hello Greg, I think you're doing a pretty good job with all this. I know from my experience, I liked to see only one view of the part as it was presented to the machine spindle, (I.E.=how many operations can be completed in the least amount of set-up's). Make as many pages as you think it takes...

    Deals on Alibre

I apologize if this has been asked before but... Does Alibre allow you to create detailed views? I thought someone mentioned that it can't. Geez.. with old school 2D AutoCad you could create a viewport (remember Model space/Paperspace?) How does it create BOM's? Are they "parametrically"...
