    Comber Rotary Engine

Not really a good option. It is just as easy to remake it. A sleeve would be about 3/8 ID x 7/16 OD and the new vertical port to replace the 15° port would be partially into the sleeve.

    Comber Rotary Engine

I think that I have found the problem or at least a problem. Elmer calls for the inlet/exhaust port into the cylinder at a 15° angle which makes a portion of the bore open so a part of the stroke is able to leak past the piston. Others have noted this and have drilled straight down with a...

    Comber Rotary Engine

Jason: Tried to do a section but did not figure it out so that it shows what I want but this shows the pressure port on the right pushing down on the piston for clockwise rotation. The more I play around with this thing the more confused I get. I have tried both right and left intake and...

    Comber Rotary Engine

I must be missing something on this engine. I do not seem to be getting any appreciable rotary action on this thing in any position. In the position shown below the air pressure is coming in from the right and pushing the top of the piston down which generates almost no radial action. Even at 40...

    Comber Rotary Engine

The last thing I found was reference points and reference lines. In drawing the cam for this engine the center of the shaft was Y=-.25" and that is where most of the dimensions were referenced from. Also I needed reference lines at 15° from that point. That is not available with Atom. I had to...

    Comber Rotary Engine

I have mostly figured it out but I am using Atom which has some very real limitations but I am not going to pay $400 for Design. Atom seems to be deliberately crippled and is missing some features which should just be part of any cad program. I could use Free CAD now since a lot of the methods...

    Comber Rotary Engine

I think that you may be right. I have drawn the engine in Alibre hoping to see the rotation but that will not show rotation because it will not constrain the cam follower to cam. It is not binding in the cam because I actually have about 1/32 clearance between the cam and the follower. What I do...

    Comber Rotary Engine

I have built a Comber Rotary Engine and I am having a problem getting it to run. It seems to hang up when the cylinder is about 30° past vertical. This happens on both ends of the cylinder. The piston/rod does not seem to be binding up in the cylinder and the rod forks do not seem to be binding...

    Powder paint for model engines

Drill q couple of holes in the side of the box to put a steel rod through so that you can hang parts from the rod and attach the ground to. The pieces that you are "painting" have to be grounded. Basically you have and electrostatic paint system. That is why there is very little overspray.

    Which engine is this?

I don't know what it is either but I certainly would also like to see plans for it.

    Powder paint for model engines

All the more reason to try it before you continue. Try it outside on the driveway out of the wind to see what happens before investing in more stuff that you may not need. Perhaps go to the local appliance store and get a carboard box from an appliance to use for the booth. Free and fold it up...

    Powder paint for model engines

I have not had a lot of experience with my powder coating system but I have just put down newspapers on the floor to catch the overspray and that has been sufficient. My shop is in a separate "shop" building so if I were in a shop inside of the house I might have been more concerned about the...

    Upshur's opposed twin engine

Look at the color diagram that I posted before. That shows the total cycle. What you have to look at is the 102 x 2 = 204 is the cycle, not the 102. The 102 is only because the cam turns at 1/2 the crank rotation. Forget 102 and think 204.

Does this help? It is confusing.

    Upshur's opposed twin engine

I build the engine several years ago and I also found that the cam hit the connecting rod if the timing was wrong and I also had to shave some off from the gear.

    Upshur's opposed twin engine

This is from the original Upshur drawing. It hits if the timing is wrong.

    Upshur's opposed twin engine

I am not sure what the problem is with your engine but when I built that engine I found that if the cam hit the connecting rod the valve timing was wrong.
