Plans for a small hit miss carburetor SOS

Thank you George Rhoades for the plans. P M Research does have a nice brass carb casting or available finished model but after a phone call their's would be too small. Modifications neccessary to get it installed (with a 3/4 pipe thread) make it easier to make one from scratch. Regards Al

Are there kits for marine engines?

Brother got me started when he stored an old American Eagle marine engine (similar to Caille or Detroit) in my workshop and now would like to make a model. I've checked out numerous sites for kits and after coming up empty handed has only increased my desire to make one. Does anyone know of a...

Plans for a small hit miss carburetor SOS

I've run into a brick wall in my attempt to get a small Carlisle Finch 1/4 hp engine running. :'( Been on the search for a lunkenheimer 1/2 inch carb or an Essex 3/8 carb(which is what I believe was used in 1915) but no luck. So Plan B is to make one. Does anyone have plans for a model carb...

    Looking for Breisch Plans

I had not thought of it before but Cole's Power in Tx may have them. Even though he doesn't sell those items he has plans of many models. He's been involved with machining models for three decades before buying the Cole's company.

2 cylinder for a side wheeler

What a great paddlewheel engine you're making. Work is outstanding. I have an old casting kit for the M E Undertype that you have pictured on your avatar. Any chance seeing additional pictures of it? Al

This hobby has turned me into a greeny. :-)

What a resource that old printers are for SS bars. Last week I checked my supply of ss bars(from four printers) to see what I needed to order to make a grasshopper engine from a casting kit that I bought from Canadian Model and surprised to find that I had all the sizes needed for the project...

    Humour

To follow up with the diet recommendation A gentleman went to the doctor and asked if he ate right, didn't smoke, didn't drink, didn't chase women all nite long--would he live longer? Doctor said," Probably not but it will seem like it".

Drilled and Tapped but Way too Loose

Went back to my charts that I had printed for tap drill sizes and saw that chart title is Tap Drill Sizes for Forming Taps. I had downloaded several charts from a couple sites (another chart does list 6.8mm). Really don't know what forming taps is all about but have now filed that chart in the...

Drilled and Tapped but Way too Loose

Need to drill and tap holes in a new 4 jaw chuck. Gauge shows a M-8 with 1.25 pitch when held up to socket screw that holds the chuck to threaded ring mount on lathe. In a trial piece I used a .290 drill and tapped with 8 x 1.25 tap but socket screw seems very loose. Retains screw but seems to...

    Humour in model engineering

After months of nagging fom the wife, the 84 year gentlemen finally goes to the doctor for the first time in his life. The doctor says after the exam "you certainly are in great shape for someone 84, how old was your father when he died?" The old guy says "Did I say he died?" Doctor is...

What does everyone do? (or did, if retired)

Worked two summers on my uncle's dairy farm in Vermont. The three of us (uncle-52, aunt-51, and me-10) did the complete summer hay harvesting besides the daily chores of a 50 milking cow herd. I know I was a big kid but when I think of a ten year old driving a Fordson tractor pulling a wagon of...
