    Chinese tb6560 driver board

I bought a couple of these 6560 driver to try out. Read up on them and realise they are limited in what they can do but hey they are cheap, you get what you pay for. Everybody who had problems with them were running at around the 30 volt mark, OK should be good for that but I put a limit of 20...

    Post office rant

George, Some of our carriers, note carriers not the PO have these hand held things you sign on. some of them have cameras in them and they photograph your front door. We don't have mailboxes here, everything comes thru the letterbox. If you query a delivery they can show you a signature...

Buying short lengths of Steel in the UK.

6" ?? sure it's not ER132 ? Pity you live in Sarf Wales or you could have had a sort out thru the short ends box. Just weighed in 1/4 of a tonne of short small bar ends, been kicking around for just too long. John S.

    Nemett 15cc Engine plans

Some while ago we contacted Malcolm Stride with a view to converting the Lynx engine into files that could be done on a CNC. Malcolm was very agreeable with this and we bought a set of plans and started work, some while later we bought 5 more sets to go with the files which were part finished...

Thinking aloud here but what about using machining wax instead of foam ? You could get some good detail in wax. John S.

Electronic Dividing Head using the Arduino

A remark from Chuck jogged a memory when he mentioned the Nano. Didn't realise the Nano was related to this beast because a while ago I had a guy write a program similar to the divisionmaster that was software based and ran on a PC with USB port. This was to go into a camera system and the PC...

Electronic Dividing Head using the Arduino

How about just using a worm drive box that's been used for years and not reinventing the wheel with a puncture ?

Electronic Dividing Head using the Arduino

Chuck, Are you sure it can hold against cutting forces ? I built one some years ago, similar design but far bigger and heavier but on splines you could see it cogging and producing helical splines. Scrapped it and went to worm and wheel. John S.

Beauty of a Hardinge / Bridgeport Mill available

Can't understand why they go to all this trouble to recondition a machine with limited travels, the weakest of the Bridgeport heads and then not connect the horizontal drive. Personally I can't see one plus in this machines against the negatives ? John S.

    Complex casting

Matt, Colour me impressed, a very novel and unique way to obtain various shapes that may not be related to casting. From halfway down the first page I was hooked. John S.

    Starting a 60:1 gearbox

The OP states ABOUT 60:1 My guess is for astronomy he needs something stupid like 59.3573978623845662957 [ approx ] that can only be achieved with some prime numbers. How am I doing ? John S.

3020 CNC routing machine and Mach 3

One of them is in Portsmouth, I ordered a TB6520 ? stepper board off them and it was here in 3 days with a Portsmouth postmark. One 3040/ 3020 I know came thru just as quick, one thing dealing with these is forget the insane shipping from Portsmouth, it's just a way to keep ebay fees down and...

3020 CNC routing machine and Mach 3

Al, They are not a bad machine but to cut costs they have cut corners, if you do a web search you will find plenty of posts giving details. Given that many suppliers in China are making and selling these quality differs from supplier to supplier. Main one I have read about is that the DC...
