Mounting a spin indexer on a small mill.

Reviving this old thread :) I got the same indexer and a 5c collet set from Santa. That thing is huge on the X2 mill so I'll be doing something similar to make it easier to mount.

    mini-lathe - getting it right...maybe

I don't think it matters. The X/Y table is what needs to be square with each other. The fore/aft and left/right tilt of the Z axis column in relation to the table will matter. So will any similar tilt in how the head is attached to the column. That said, getting it as close as you can with the...

Little machine shop high torque mill ?

SX2 review: http://www.mini-lathe.com/Mini_mill/Reviews/Sieg%20SX2/SX2.htm MM sells both the X2 and the SX2 (and the old 7x14 and newer 7x16 lathe as well).

Help me buy a Mini Mill - Spindle Taper: MT #3 or R8?

If you want MT3--Grizzly and Micro-Mark are the only two I know about. Micro-Mark has their stuff on sale from time to time and you can get the old X2 in the low $500 range. Buy the time you add a belt-drive and air-spring it jumps back up again). I have the MM lathe and mill and have yet to use...

Sounds like progress. And you have all day tomorrow for the valve to and get it running.

    A Trio of Tools

The hammer wrench is just a chunk of bronze (I think--maybe Red Brass) turned to size then bored for a socket to fit into. I was trying for a nice press fit--but, typical of my latest boring attempts, it was way too tight the first try then slipped right in the next. A good dose of super-glue is...

One other thing I forget. It sounds silly but try running it with a butane fireplace starter. It burns much cleaner than the alcohol. That might help if you think it's the residue stopping it from running. And my first wick was a ratty piece of cotton and then a tiki-torch wick. They both left...

    Dropped one of my Engines

Bummer...Have a look around, there's some comments somewhere about cutting test tubes for the lamina-flow engine. You can rebuild it, better...stronger...faster...

    A Trio of Tools

Thanks! It is a live center. It has a single 1/4" ball inside to rotate on. Look here: http://mikesworkshop.weebly.com/revolving-centres.html It's not quite as smooth running as my store-bought live center but it lots smaller so doesn't get in the way as much. I measured the runout on it and...

    A Trio of Tools

A tailstock die-holder. An MT2 Live Center (inspired by Weebly's site). The die-holder will fit this as well. And a drawbar hammer/wrench.

I'm guessing maybe his piston and valves fit togeter a bit tighter than ours. No matter to me--mine runs--AHAHAHAHAHAHA. P.S. Hope you get your's running ASAP too.
