    Inexpensive DRO from Grizzly

Moving over one or two holes would definitely help and I may try that just to gain a little easier access. Daydreaming at work today I came up with this idea (drawn in psuedo-crap-o-cad). The yellow bit is just a free-floating piece of brass rod that would go through the current lever-lock...

    Inexpensive DRO from Grizzly

Well after over a year I finally got around to mounting my X and Y scales (did the Z almost immediately). There mounted similar to how BlackVette did his. The problem now is what to do for the X-axis table lock. The scale is pretty much in the way so I'm looking for ideas around it. The hole is...

My first engine, but wow is it noisy.

Noisy is no problem--sounds like a real engine. Nice job.

    Finger Engine

A couple of mods. Wife has the good camera so it's back to the old standby. The last pic is a tad blurry but you can just make out the brass slugs that were added. And the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIJwsnaNCRk

    Finger Engine

Everyone, thanks for the comments. I just couldn't justify carving up a big hunk of expensive brass for a press on ring. I contemplated filling the existing holes with brass instead. But last night I decided to drill and plug new holes in the outermost part of the wheel. Six 3/8" slugs have...

    Finger Engine

Something to keep me busy the past couple of weeks. Sorry for no build photos. It's based on the NAMES plans that are easily found on the net. It was gonna be a quick-n-dirty project then I got carried away a bit. It's not entirely finished--it needs a bigger or heavier flywheel to make it...

Working On A LMS Stirling Kit Build

DO NOT GIVE UP. Read this site for the trials and tribulations many have gone thru to get an engine running. If anything, just set it aside for a while and come back to it later. But I encourage you to keep at it. With the expert help here it WILL run.

A Rocker - My Very First Build

Nice engine. Never seen that design before--a rocker. I too would've been leary of it working. Another for the to-do list. Thanks for sharing.

    Milling ideas?

You can get some basic square, rectangular shapes using a 4-jaw (plus a 4-jaw comes in handy for lots of other ops too): http://www.mini-lathe.com/Mini_lathe/Chucks/4_jaw/4-Jaw.htm#Non-cylinder

A fully adjustable toolpost for the Unimat 3

That looks too nice to use.

I think I may have made a mistake.

I have my MM lathe and mill each sitting on one of these I got at Sam's Club. The mill is bolted down, the lathe isn't. No complaints.

    'Poppin' Flame Licker Engine

    50 endmills

Did they update the site or your order? I just checked and it's like $30 for standard service to Texas for 30 end mills and a diamond wheel. Ouch.

2 cylinder, 2 stroke, no flywheel

Uh Oh...looks like someone has your laptop held captive.

    My first engine

Very nice work--if that's your first, can't wait to see the second. "My first engine"... th_wtf1 Really? I guess you've been making precision medical instruments or space shuttle parts for years and years before this? Rof} Lots of "first engines" showing up that look superb.

    Microlux - opinions?

For that price I'd look at the LMS mill as well. The only differences are going to be the true-inch dials and included drill chuck on the MM vs. the bigger table and travel on the LMS. I'd rather get the LMS and buy a drill chuck and you could convert to the tru-inch dials later if you wanted...
