    1144 Stress-proof equivalent in Europe?

Whenever possible, I try tovsource my stock locally...it's cheaper and faster...In particular talking about 1144, I resist to think that stressproff steel can only be found in the US.

    1144 Stress-proof equivalent in Europe?

Hi fellow members, For the crankshaft of my next project (An Offy 270), the plans asks for 1144 to make the crankshaft. I understand that this steel combines great machineability with low internal stress that will help in keeping it straight when removing large amounts of material. The problem...

    Offy 270 plans, still available?

Just for information sake. I wrote a pm to mr. Colonna few days ago, and still waiting for response. I think, I´ll go through the ebay catch via.

    Offy 270 plans, still available?

Thank you Steve! There's nothing I want more than being in the Indiana show, but living in Spain makes it a little bit difficult. I've send a MP to Mr Colonna, hoping he's able to help this modest builder.

    Offy 270 plans, still available?

I read top down these two posts, but still no clue on where to buy today a copy. Ron Colonna stopped selling copies some time ago.

    Offy 270 plans, still available?

Hi fellow colleagues, After the fantastic build (as always) of Mayhugh1, I´ve been lately actively looking to buy a copy of the Ron´s Colonna Offy plans, but it seems they´re not available anywhere on the internet. I know this topic has been discussed a number of times in the past on this...

    Sidel ST770 rebuild questions

Dear colleagues, Recently, I´ve received a quite old Seidel ST770 (I think this unit dates back to the 80´s). Last time it was started, Queen band was on the top of all lists. The owner is a good friend of mine from my RC racing days, and he unsuccessfully tried to restart it last year...and...

    What´s Mayhugh1 doing?

I think that all of us we miss Mayhugh1´s posts and builds. The finish level and detail of the explanations are so great that I consume every word on them. @mayhugh1 Are you planning to start a new build?....you have all of us waiting.

Help on 8X12 Harbor Freight Lathe

My suggestion is to check the Grizzly catalogue for the same model (As you know, most of the imported lathes are sold under a number of different brands). Usually, Grizzly has super nice, detailed manuals for their products, and they are available online.

    Olsryd Merlin - Feasible?

I fully agree, If I put the effort it takes, I would make it as closer as the real Merlin as my capabilities allow me. Where did you get this picture? Is it a modified Olsryd? Is there any available plans?

Starter for radial engine (Edwards 5)

Hi Petertha. From my old days in the RC Car racing scene, I have several carburettors, most of them seem to be better made than the standard Perry. This is a carburettor from a Sirio 1/8 on-road engine.

Starter for radial engine (Edwards 5)

Thank you both for the inputs!! I think I'll visit my hobby store to buy a good starter based on Steve's advice. I thini I'm too lazy for designing and machining a new prop hub to use Cwelkie's approach, although I'll consider it seriously for my next project

Starter for radial engine (Edwards 5)

Dear friends, I've just finished my Edwards 5 radial build (pictures soon). I've still have not done its firtst start and now I'm debating myself on the best way to do it. With the prop installed it takes some effort to turn it by hand due to the amount of compression....it does, but not as...
