    Filtering molten cast iron.

i have seen concrete floors in all kind of foundry's... ni problem.. the sand you mentioned is kiln dried.. its fired in a kiln and this alters the sand in a way that it doesn't absorb moisture.. it will ADSORB moisture ( it doesn't go in the sand but goes around it (and this dries quikly)

Dry milling aluminum in general and 5154 in the hobby

lots of people use vapor cooling these days with oil.. mixes it perfect with oxygen.. finding that dangerous especially in an open machine!! a fire extinguisher or at least a blanket is nothing to spare money on.. i know! have witnessed an lathe catch fire on machining magnesium.. flooded...

i also never had fire and use a LOT with face milling and always with endmilling few drops every 10 seconds keep mill little wet fire hazard goes with oil also.. find it best practice to have a fire extinguisher present when milling or turning . BETTER safe then sorry!! € 10 euro to buy a...

Dry milling aluminum in general and 5154 in the hobby

for aluminum use a LITTLE spiritus (called this way in the Netherlands) it is de naturated alcohol . keep fire extinguisher or a fire blanket within reach. using this for 5 years i NEVER had fire but it could possibly ignite (oil can to easy especially when misted) use a few drops or a light...

    Teflon as spark plug insulator

why not use alumina ceramic tube?? that's made for it costs Penny's and can be baked with a microwave kiln.. epoxy s and plastic don't belong into an engines business end ( burning chamber) as it easy heats up to 300⁰c +

    Cutting fluids

the water soluble coolant is cancer in a bottle!!! ipa is used to cool and keep flying chips to a minimum..just needs a good ventilator on it to get the mist out instead off inhaling it.. same goes for oil/emulsion cooling . the little air pumps àre great for mist cooling.. only downside is the...

    Cutting fluids

and for aluminum machining (at home) a mist system with alcohol (IPA) is working very good, also watch out for fire ( never had a fire in 10 years) also but it has the big advantage that it will vaporise very fast and you can vacuum your chips easy.. little side note USE IN A WELL VENTILATED...

    Cutting fluids

that is why machines are mandatory to have a good filtration system on them and a full enclosure on them when using cutting fluid off any kind beqause it is cancer flying in the air!! + when working with oil as a cutting fluid you are mandatory to have a fire extinguisher system buildt into...

    Homemade sandblasters .

i used one working with a big shop vacuum cleaner and a bag of sand with a hose in it and a small plastic tube on it i sand blasted very much!! and NO dust and you can re use the grit/sand few times, empty the bag and go go go.. couple the vacuum cleaner to a square box with hand holes and a...

Model engine CDI easy and cheap

Arduino Based CDI single cylinder.. a few hours of reading.. Arduino Car Ignition System... the Carduino!. here is a car version.. but just google there is a lot to find on the topic! and the rcxel code is also available on the i net but you will need to have a pic chip programmed by...

Model engine CDI easy and cheap

why not use a rcexel as a base? there ia a scematic on internet that can use 12 ignition leads controlled with Arduino nano. with easy adjustable dwell angle rev limiter and easy start mode, using only 1 hall sensor and a knocking sensor can be added. i use it on a joined 2 cylinder zenoah...

Lower cost design for a water brake for a dyno.

or you can use a rotary vane pump.. fir cheap version ( some old air tool grinder or drill that is direct drive!) and the inlet+ air out in the handle so you can make a closed loop in the system with a tank in the middle. replace the bearings with stainless steel versions or ceramic . or use...

Lower cost design for a water brake for a dyno.

why don't you use 2 brake discs one with magnets glued onto it and a way of bringing them closer together so you can control the braking, this way you get eddy currents that are getting stronger the higher the rpm is and no blocking.. it is used in carnival rides and rollercoasters a metal...

    Deep Drilling In aluminum block

sandvik-coromat they havr them in the collection deep hole drills.. but you can also do it what they call kotteren in the Netherlands.. using a smaller drill and offsetting it you can drill holes 40% wider than the drillbit, big advantage is the chips can exit very easy and it aids in precision
